Customizing exhaust

Postby Hornepayne » Sat Jun 30, 2012 7:35 pm

I've heard many Ducatis with aftermarket exhaust systems. I know my Son added a Vance and Hines on his Fat Bob, and added a larger air breather. Did some set up on the bike as well. Is this truly necessary if all I'm looking for is a richer deeper growl.. If I modify the cans, Is it a must to do anything else?

If you are referring to doing this to you're new 848, I would suggest if you do pipes, get a power commander or a chip for the ecm to get it running properly. It may throw an emissions code possibly if you do only the pipes, but am not 100% sure of that!

Agree. I have two Monsters. I swapped in an after market exhaust without allowance for the O2 sensor. The engine light came on right away. There are ways to add a resister to trick it out, but the best is to reprogram with the ECM.
