Joint ride DOCC and East Coast Ducati Club 2013
Anybody up for a road ride?????
Well, it looks like I will be heading out to meet up with the ECDC guys on the weekend of July 26, 27, and 28 at the MEME Rally in Bethel Maine. (Maine European Motorcycle Enthusiasts).
I went to the Rally last year. The MEME crowd put on a good rally and promise to make it even better for this year. The Rally is held in Bethel ME, not far from Mount Washington (See the March calendar photo).
My plan is to ride the ST and look for as many twisty roads as I can find there and back. No reason that the superbike guys can't trailer if that is their preference.
If anyone wants more information, let me know. It would be nice to have the company!
Thanks

Hi Dave,
Things are looking good for 1 or 2 from London to join you for the ride. Please pass along the info so we can register with MEME.

Chris,
Here is the hotel information
Jordan Grand Resort – Sunday River (Bethel Maine)
207 824 3500
The reservations line is only open from 9 to 5.
Don’t forget to tell them you are attending the MEME Rally and also to book dinner for Saturday evening. The hotel is waaaay off the beaten path. So you probably won’t want to head out for anything after you get there in the evening. The cost for a double room is $234.84 for 2 nights and $33 for dinner.
Here is the link to the hotel.

They have strange policies with respect to reservations. Expect to have to pay 50% up front and the cancellation charges are ridiculous. But, having said that, it is a nice hotel.
Information on the rally and MEME.

Dave,
Myself and a friend from Ann Arbor, MI are booked in for MEME. Should be a great time. I will send you an email to firm up our plans and discuss route.
I still have to reach out to Mike H to see if he is interested.

Chris,
That's great!
On the assumption that we are leaving Thursday morning, I was wondering if we should get together somewhere in London Wed PM, so we can get an early start on Thurs.
If your friend is coming from Ann Arbor, assuming he is coming up and crossing the Blue Water bridge, he could pick me up along the way.
I am away for the weekend, but we should talk next week.

Hi Dave,
I completely agree about starting from London early Thursday am. My friend is heading up Wednesday pm so we can figure things out. Send me an email with you phone number and we can connect to work out the details.
I sent Mike an email and will try to call him this weekend.
Note to others - there is still lots of room at the hotel for the event. Not too late to join in with the group, should be lots of fun!

Post Rally Note:
Chris and I had a good run out to Maine and back. There are some nice roads out that way once you get past Lake Ontario. We met up with about a dozen members of the ECDC and had a great weekend.
The turnout at the rally was a little lighter this year than last. But that just left more food, beer and door prizes for the rest of us.
Admittedly, it is a long way to go on a superbike, but that is why trailers were invented. It is a bit of a hike to get there, but it is an easy doable 850 km run from Toronto.
There are several great road rallies being run by different organizations. You should consider trying one out for a change of pace.
