Timmins, Ontario - looking to learn maintenance

I live 8 hours north of Toronto....and also the nearest Ducati Dealer. I plan to buy a Monster 796 next spring...but given my location I better learn how to maintain it.
I'm looking to learn how to maintain the valves and other mandatories. I hope to pick up some tips online. But really would like to work alongside a competent Ducati mechanic for a few days. Would rather an Ontario location, but would travel for the privilege.
So know anyone who needs a helper for a few days this winter?
