suspension choices

I have a friend building an '06 sport for track use. Any sport classic and GT owners know that things could be better. I have found that Ohlins twin shocks and now cartridge units for the stock forks are available. The single shock for the '06 can be found from Ducati, but it looks like Elka may be half the price or better.

What I am interested in hearing is feedback from anyone that has tried Elka units (on any model or brand of bike) and what you think. Other shock brands??

There is even a "lite" version basic Ohlins shock for early monster and ST. I'm pretty happy with the Raceteck valve in my stock 95 M900 shock. My 999 does fine with an 848 spring on the stock Showa shock, and the Showa forks on 10 weight oil.

We are kicking ideas around, and I'd like as many as possible to consider before decision.

All thoughts welcome.

For, those that fly, may fight againe, Which he can never do that's slain.
OR: Fewer crashes mean more track time. ;)
