Vintage Bevel Maintenance

Hi folks,
I recently aquired a 74 GT750 custom that has been sitting for a number of years. Any good Ducati mechanics familiar with early bevels around?
I was told the Tim Spiegelberg was a good guy to get in touch with. However I don't know where he works out of. Any clue?
I got in touch with Rev cycles knowing that a Chris McDermott worked there but the service manager indicated that my bike wouldn't be a priority and the ealiest appointment for a safety would be two weeks away.
I’m still kind of stunned that a shop couldn’t squeeze in a safety for a new customer. But hey, I guess I know where not to go.

Looking forward to meeting folks on this site.
Bernie

Re: Vintage Bevel Maintenance

Tim Spiegelberg can be found at home in I think Kitchener.
I hear he now works at APEX CYCLE SPORTS at Waterloo.
He had a business called Euro classics there.
He is a bevelhead expert.

Re: Vintage Bevel Maintenance

Is this Bar Hogdson's bike?
If it is not, it is a good imitation of his bike.

Bern,
Welcome to the Club and please check out our DOCC track event season finale at Mosport this Sunday/Monday for some meet and greet. If this works for you it's one good way to meet some of the classic Ducatisti who still speak bevel drive. No gate charge, just come out and have a look and ask for the old guys.
All the best,
Fran

Re: Vintage Bevel Maintenance

I did see this bike before.
It is nice. very nice.
Bern will have acquired a good ride here.
On top of that I met the guy who did most of the customising a few years ago.
Very interesting character who also knew Henry who passed away recently.

Hey Bevel Head,
The bike gets plenty of looks when I have it out.
The bikes owners before me were,
Bar Hodgson,
Dan Swanwick,
Mario Porretta,
Mario did most of the work on the paint and body and Dan had the heads off and honed the cylinders. It just started leaking a fair bit from the horizontal cylinder between the cylinder block and the head. I am going to pull the head off and replace the o-rings. Probably do the valve guides as well. I suspect the o rings are pretty old and dried out given the bike was in a collection for 9 years and not used too much.
