timing wheel for my 450

Postby MotoMike » Fri Oct 08, 2010 9:35 am

Can I get by homebrewing one? simply secure wheel with a couple nuts to a long enough bolt to reach the crank? Use only for static testing? the strobe wheels look like they must be built to more demanding tolerences of good contruction. Seen a nice one made by a tool maker in Australia on Ebay, but over a hundred bucks.

thanks mike

Regular degree wheel works fine for static setting. See owner's handbook

thanks guys.

when I pull the access plug, can I simply screw in the bolt for the timing wheel? what size is it? seems I saw something that showed a grub screw in the end of the crank.

Yes, grub screw needs to be removed. Parts book says it's an M8 x 1.25
