Shims

I am progresing well with a bevel gear set replacement in my 860GT. However, I can't seem to find ready made shims for adjusting the height of the bevel gear coming into the head (25mm OD / 17.5mm ID)

Does anyone know of a place to obtain these shims or does anyone want to sell some?

If nobody has any, I am prepared to make a punch and die set to cut these from shim stock. These are common parts to Darmah's and 900SS's. Would anybody be interested in some extra's if I make up a bunch?

Ed, I would be interested for my '75 860GT if you don't find them anywhere else.

Hi Ed,
The shims came in .002" (.05mm), .004" (.1mm), .008" (.2mm), .020" (.5mm), and .040" (1mm) thicknesses. You can try Larry Kline at GT Motors in Lansing Mi., Greg Rammel in Northville Mi (just wet of Detroit), or John Lumley in Evanston Il. If you do end up making them, I'd be interested in a selection if the price is right.
Cheers, Rocket

Before you go to the trouble of making shims cjeck with "Road and Race" in Oz. I'm sure that Phil has the shims by the thousands.

Google "Road and Race" for his e-mail address. Mial ordering from Phil (Hitchcock) is easier, faster and cheaper than going to the local dealer!

Thank you all,
Your leads got me to Syd's Cycles. He had a selection of all thickness of the correct shims.

This means I don't have to make them myself. Although I got a quote of $0.99 each if anyone wants at least 500 of them made in California.

Thanks again,
Ed
