Swingarm Bearings Replacement '93 900SS

Postby Steve302 » Sun Jun 28, 2009 7:57 pm

Does anyone have any experience changing the swingarm Needle bearings pressfit into the cases for a 900 DesmoDue. The retaining clip doesn't allow much clearance for a blind puller to get a decent amount of metal pushing against the bearing. Any Tips?

Thanks,
Steve

Assumming you are not going to reuse the bearings, the easiest approach is a long thin drift. Remove the outboard seals first and drive the bearings and inner seals out from the opposite side catching whatever edge you can with the drift. They pop out easily. Replacement is straight forward provided the circlips are still in place. You can get replacement bearings and seals from any decent bearing house.
