Starter motor brush kit for a 900SS

I need a brush kit for my '95 900SS. Ducati supplies the complete motor for $600, so I'd rather just replace the brushes. Does anybody know where I can find part 0670.50.815 (the repair kit) or if there is an adequate substitute?
Any dealers with this lying on their shelf....?

Posted: Mon Sep 14, 2009 3:44 pmAny good alternator shop should be able to do it.I had mine bench tested and the brushes replaced for about $60. (i think) Tri Rep Com in Cambridge did it.
The brushes it needs are standard for a lot of other starters.I don't think they even charged me for them.

It turns out that Ken at GP Bikes in Pickering has come through yet again. He had NOS sitting on his shelf and it is in the mail as we speak. I am trying to replace those brushes with the starter still in the engine- if anyone has any advice on doing this, please send it! It promises to be a very fiddly task.
