900ss F.I. - carbureted engine swap

With the wealth of knowledge on this forum I'm certain someone will know the answer. I have a '02 900ss which needs an engine. I 've secured a carburated engine. What , if anything needs to be changed on the carbed engine to get it working in the 02 frame while retaining the fuel injection. Thanks Greg

Have you tried getting ahold of Don Gossen or Spegilerg? I am off to the McDermott's in Shawville on Sunday, so I will ask the question of Gerry, he has a couple 900SS' around and knows them rather well.

Hi Greg,

Way too much. Either go carbies or a FI engine since you need crank triggers, cases, covers with sensor locs. and a bunch of little differences adding up to a major PIA and avoidable expense. Slot an 888 in there for VRRA or build a good carburetted track bike since the newer 900 frame is better steering than earlier version.

Keep us posted,
Fran

Thanks Fran
You sure seem to know a lot about the moderns fer a fellow "ol timer". I will probably go with the carbs even though the chap I'm ebaying the motor from is sending me what he deems the necessary parts to make the engine F.I. compatible, (left cover and a rotor?). Who needs fool injection anyways?
I'll stick with the Rickman/Kaw as my vintage racer possibly bumping up to p4, rather than rocking the vrra eligibility boat too much. Even Iwould think that an '02 is a little too new for the vrra.
Thanks again
