Is it advisable to occasionally run fuel injecter cleaner in the gas - proper ratio of course - my friend does with his fuel injected Suzuki
want to make sure its ok on the Ducati

I haven't thought about running injecter cleaner in my fuel injected bikes although I do this to my truck.

I looked through my Supersport 1000 service manual - there is a caution note - do not use fuel (or lubricant) additives. But then is injecter cleaner an additive??

I suppose the fuel filter would prevent dirt from getting to the injecters and plugging these off (I hope). The fuel filter needs to be changed at 20,000 km intervals on my SS1000. Worth heeding this recommendation as a plugged fuel filter will burn-out the fuel pump electric motor (as I found out the hard way with my truck recently).

The root cause is the cleanliness of the fuel supply (which we don't have a whole lot of control over).

I've also added fuel stabilizer - I routinely do this at the end of the riding season (which arrived late this season - I was riding last weekend and then it snowed - bummer! And now I'm experiencing withdrawal ).

No mention of adding stabilizer as not being a recommended practice in the service manual. I suppose fuel stabilizer isn't an additive - adding this is a one-time deal done as a long term storage precautionary measure. I stabilized the fuel in my Hayabusa (fuel-injected) at the end of last season and it went just as fast this past season.

The effectiveness of fuel and oil additives (fuel stabilizer? How does it work??) is controversial. Some believe the effectiveness of these products lies mainly in the heads of the users! i.e. the placebo effect. Caveat emptor.
