Head Gaskets - Best supplier

Postby bandito » Thu Jan 24, 2013 10:49 pm

I would like to get opinions on what supplier is the best for getting OEM head gaskets for 2006 800ss SuperSport.

Is there even a head gasket required. When I pulled off the vertical head there was no gasket and I can't find a part number in the shop manual or on ducatiomaha.com.

Head gaskets, we don't need no stinkin' head gaskets!

I once asked this same question to Frank Rominelli in my younger days. His answer was considerably longer and a whole lot more colourful than mine! Those of you who know Frank will know what I mean.

There are base gaskets, and you do need o-rings to seal around the oil galleries in the heads, but no head gaskets.

You can get a copy of the parts manual for you bike off of the Ducati website (for free) and for a small fee, you can download a copy of the service manual from www.duc.nu (pirated, I admit)

I hope this helps

Funny, it seems as weird as it does practical. Thanks again Dave!
