Well I have to say - it was 2 of us - the poll didn't lie!

Friday night we were busy with Ducati North America. So no one really made it out to a "DOCC only" event. But we did have fun with everyone involved from Ducati.

Saturday was quite an event! The whole two of us! Richard Rudd and I went to the Hard Rock Cafe inside the Rogers Centre (former Skydome) for a few pints and to watch, through the glass, the Motocross races in the dome.

As it happened Richard was juggling many balls that night having manned the DOCC booth and in the evening a "fancy function" he was attending in one of the halls which required him to wear a very funny outfit - one we at the DOCC have never seen him don. Yes Richard was spiffed up in a suit! (it didn't even say Triumph on the suit - at least where I looked  ) My apologies for not using my camera (which i did have on hand) to capture Richard in a suit so you could all see what a spectacle it was. Imagine talking to Sean Connery as Bond in the flesh - very dashing Richard!

Though Richard was supposed to be at his "fancy event" he was able to escape to my Toronto Regional Beer Evening in the Hard Rock (what a trooper Richard - the sacrifices you make for the club will not go unrewarded! ) The two of us had a blast watching the motocross. Soon we were joined by Mike Heggarty (the London Regional Rep) and his wife Liz to make a boisterous party of 4.

It was a great evening and we hope that next year's MMIC attracts more of you and keeps more of you DOCC'ers around after the convention closes so as to keep this tradition going.

PS - The convention was a huge success! The DOCC handed out cards which outline the benefits of being a member and our major events for 2006. We met several members and many new potential members who I think will join shortly.

Charley Boorman from "Long Way Round" fame (and a successful acting career I might add) was in the adjacent BMW booth and when he wasn't signing autographs there, he was often with us at the DOCC counter in the Ducati booth (it was also directly on the way to the washroom from BMW). He told the sad tale of how his last Duc was stolen in London and how he was planning to win the Paris - Dakar. Yes you read correctly - PARIS - DAKAR! Good luck Charley and BMW Godspeed to you and your crew. (Claudio will be in the chase helicopter).

Thanks for posting the photos of Charlie Boorman!

We're just finishing watching the 10 episode Special Edition DVD from the UK. The extra episodes are -

2 episodes of the preparation for the trip rather than 1
2 episodes covering their trip through North America rather than 1
1 episode with their thoughts about the trip a year afterwards, from all the 'cast' including the hero of the piece, Claudio.

There's also some extra extras.

The cost from Amazon UK was just over 11 quid, a bargain.

Yep Terry I had a great time.
'Course it was a no-brainer really. I could either hang in through all the speachifying at my wifes company christmas party or sneak off for a session of bikes, beer and good company. Doh!!!

I sneak pretty good eh? She hardly missed me. Felt a bit weird though wearing a tie and my best two piece threads among all those rough biker types. Think I'll go with your advice and have the Triumph logo stiched across the back of my suit jacket for next year.

I'm sure my wife wouldn't mind.
